Search by Geo-Political Map

Another unique search interface, Search by Map incorporates searching by Maine County, major city, highway, town, and reservations of native peoples.

Each major element in the Flash map is clickable. Clicking the element inserts relevant keyword or words into the search box. An additional search element is the timeline search box, which allows the visitor to click one or more dates.

If two dates are clicked, the search interface automatically interprets it as a date range incorporating all years between the selected dates.

The simplicity and intuitive ease of the interface belie its hidden complexity, in the multitude of Flash elements that reflect data fields in the search database, and in the programming behind the date selection feature.
